3D Printing Forum

Hi

I have been doing a course on Tinkercad using Udemy. Not the greatest to be honest as I find still am unable to do a 3D print.

I am just wanting to start simple and build from there. I would like to print a rectangle 75mm x 10m x 25mm it must be an open top and be hollow to the bottow it must have a solid base.

I would just like to run the method I think I must take.

1. Draw a solid rectangle 77 x 12 x 27 mm.
2. Draw a rectangle hole 75 x 11 x 25mm.
3. Place the hole in the solid. ( not sure the correct terminology)

After this is done i think I group it and then send it to 3D print.

I am not sure if there is anything I have to do in Cura to start the print.

Open Thinkercad, Click button "create new design"

Select Box Solid shape size to Length, width, and height.
Select Box hollow shape size to Length, width, and height.
Select both shapes align to center top and Group
Export and load with Cura.

No you just about have it.

Hi I did just as said and its worked perfectly. I have attached a picture.

I have now tried to do something with more detail and when I try to group it everything dissapears

You would have to post a Screen capture video for the forum to see why it could disappears.

Thank you, I have seen that it was a hole so when grouped it dissapeared

Hi I am not sure how to show a post as answered so hope its ok to carry on the discussion here .

I did a design ( attached I saved it in cura and changed the extension so that I can post it here as an attachment) When I printed it the base was quite thick, it then started on the "+" and went up about 5 mm then stopped and carried up the rest. I am not 100% sure how to resolve this or where I went wrong.

Personally After I used ThinkerCad the next step was Fusion 360 Free for Hobbyist.

With the number of individuals using Fusion 360 For personal use you can find a ton of information on YouTube.

With no previous experience but using ThinkerCad I build the Model below by only watching YouTube Videos.
This taught me the individual steps one at a time until I finished the Model about 4 hours including searching for and watching Videos .
